Shina Jung, CEO of Kakao, said she plans to expand 'AI for All' into everyday services by using touchpoints familiar to the public such as KakaoTalk and phone calls. The aim is to provide an AI experience that actually carries out tasks users need.
Jung said at a launch briefing for the 'AI for All' project held on Thursday at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, "(Through AI for All) I will ensure more people do not stop at experiencing AI once, but can elevate it into a daily habit."
She stressed that AI should go beyond answering users' questions and provide experiences that lead to real actions. Her plan is to link the strengths of consortium members so users can get the tasks they need done.
Jung said, "It is important to have an experience where AI goes beyond responding in words and actually does what that person needs," adding, "We will connect different strengths to create a natural experience that continues without interruption."
Kakao’s consortium consists of Kakao, LG group affiliates including LG Uplus, and specialist companies in their fields such as FuriosaAI. It combines Kakao’s action-oriented agentic AI, Kanana, with LG AI Research’s Exaone and FuriosaAI’s AI semiconductor capabilities. It also features expanding AI touchpoints for all citizens based on LG Uplus’ voice and telecommunications technology.
It will also cooperate with specialist companies in areas closely linked to people’s lives, including the public sector, healthcare, employment and care. The goal is to connect diverse specialist services into a single AI ecosystem and provide services tailored to users’ situations and context.
Jung stressed, "We will enable people to use AI through touchpoints familiar to them, without needing to install a separate service or memorise how to use it."
Kakao is focusing in particular on linking a single conversation not only to information searches but also to real actions. Multiple specialist AI agents will collaborate to find optimal solutions and carry out needed tasks.
The plan is also to expand the government’s 'one person, one agent' into 'one person, N agents,' with multiple specialist agents supporting one individual. It will later connect AI agents from external companies and startups to expand into an open ecosystem.
Jung stressed, "AI needs to be connected to a broad ecosystem," adding, "It is important to ensure everyone actually uses AI and can feel its value."
Kakao aims to secure more than 5 million users for the AI for All service by December and later expand to a scale of 30 million. Jung said, "We will not stop at making AI well, but make it a service people naturally use in their daily lives."
