Hancom Lifecare, a Hancom Group affiliate and a defence and safety equipment specialist, has signed a series of strategic partnerships with French companies.
Hancom Lifecare said on the 23rd it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with French CBRN protection specialist OUVRY SAS at Eurosatory 2026, the world’s largest land and air defence and security exhibition, held in Paris. It also signed an additional agreement with unmanned ground robot specialist Shark Robotics, strengthening cooperation in the defence industry.
The company said the MOU with OUVRY centres on cooperation in the area of CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) personal protective equipment for South Korea’s domestic defence market.
The two sides set a goal of jointly responding to expected CBRN protection needs of South Korea’s armed forces over the next 10 years.
With Shark Robotics, it will strengthen cooperation in the area of unmanned ground systems. Shark Robotics drew attention with its Colossus firefighting robot, which was deployed during the 2019 Notre-Dame Cathedral fire in Paris.
Hancom Lifecare signed its first MOU with Shark Robotics last month for entry into the South Korean market and, through this additional agreement, decided to expand the scope of cooperation from firefighting to defence. The two sides decided to flesh out customised cooperation plans for South Korea’s defence market, centred on Shark Robotics’ defence unmanned ground systems (UGVs) including Barakuda and Atrax.
Hancom Lifecare CEO Sun-young Kim (김선영) said, "This technology alliance with French companies will go beyond simple exchanges and become an opportunity to elevate the future defence capabilities of South Korea’s armed forces to a global level." She added, "We will further strengthen technology cooperation with global partners in high-growth defence sectors such as CBRN protection and unmanned systems, solidify our position in the domestic market, and steadily secure new growth engines for the company."
