Nepal crypto trading rises despite ban; IMF urges faster regulation

It called for rules aligned with international standards and urged Nepal to complete its FATF implementation plan and exit the grey list.

El Salvador keeps buying bitcoin five years on despite IMF pressure
El Salvador is continuing state-backed bitcoin accumulation five years after adopting a bitcoin law. The government holds 7,677 bitcoin worth about $480 million, according to Bitcoin Magazine. While the country rolled back bitcoin’s mandatory legal tender status to meet conditions for a $1.4 billion IMF loan package, it has not sold any of its holdings and keeps buying. Use for payments remains optional, while remittances via crypto remain limited.

30 percent of bitcoin at risk of quantum exposure, Glassnode says address reuse key
About 30.2 percent of issued bitcoin is stored in addresses at risk of quantum exposure, with a larger share stemming from how users and custodians manage addresses rather than from protocol structure, according to an estimate cited in a report. Glassnode put quantum-exposed bitcoin at 4.12 million BTC, more than twice the 1.92 million BTC it classified as structurally exposed due to older script types. Exchange wallets were singled out as a major source of operational exposure.
