DGIST holding firm forms first 2 billion won fund to support deep tech startups
Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) holding company DGIST Technology Holding formed its first investment fund of about 2 billion won and will invest in early-stage deep tech firms and campus startups. DGIST said the holding firm began investment activity after holding a general meeting to form the fund. The fund will focus on national strategic technology areas such as AI, robotics, advanced semiconductors and bio-healthcare.

National AI strategy committee checks AX infrastructure in Daegu, Ulsan
South Korea\'s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee said on Sunday it visited Daegu and Ulsan to check implementation of the AI Action Plan and review the status of regional AI transformation industries. The trip included inspections of AX projects in Daegu’s Suseong Alpha City and robotics testing facilities, and a visit to a SK and Amazon Web Services-backed data center construction site in Ulsan. Companies cited costs, resource constraints and regulatory burdens.

Kakao Group to set up \'Kakao AI Sail\' with four science and technology institutes, using 50 billion won fund
Kakao Group will set up a new body, dubbed \'Kakao AI Sail\', with four national science and technology institutes to foster regional artificial intelligence talent and companies. The group signed an MOU in Daejeon on Monday with KAIST, GIST, DGIST and UNIST in the presence of Science and ICT Minister Bae Kyung-hoon. The initiative will use a 50 billion won AI development fund announced in September and aims to build AI ecosystems outside the Seoul area and promote industrialisation.
