OpenAI demonstrates new \'Astra\' model in Washington

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (샘 알트먼) demonstrated a new model called Astra to policymakers and regulators in Washington, D.C. this week, The Information reported, citing three sources. OpenAI highlighted Astra’s ability to run multiple agents together for long periods to tackle difficult tasks such as projects or advanced math problems. Sources said the release timing is unknown and OpenAI has not decided whether to name it GPT-6 or a GPT-5 family model.

South Korea FSC designates five financial holding groups, banks as D-SIBs; additional 1 percent capital next year

South Korea\'s Financial Services Commission designated five major financial holding groups and their banks as domestic systemically important banks and bank holding companies for 2027. The designation keeps a 1 percent additional capital buffer requirement next year, but the lineup is unchanged from the previous year, limiting any new capital burden. Ten firms were also designated as systemically important financial institutions, subject to recovery and resolution planning. Selected D-SIFIs must submit recovery plans within three months.

Apple shares fall despite 16 percent revenue jump as AI spending fears persist

Apple reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $109.4 billion, net profit of $29.8 billion and earnings per share of $2.02. Revenue rose 16 percent from a year earlier. The company also disclosed record quarterly research and development spending of $11.73 billion, up 32 percent year on year, bringing fiscal 2026 cumulative R&D spending to $34.04 billion. Apple shares fell about 4 percent in after-hours trading after the results.
