Naver Pay launches venture capital platform to widen startup investment access
Naver Pay\'s Npay (네이버페이) launched a venture capital investment platform with South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service to connect startups and venture companies with investors. The platform, called \"Npay Startup\", aims to reduce information asymmetry in the venture investment market by standardising disclosures and broadening access to investment opportunities. It offers tools for fund providers, managers and companies, including AI-generated company pages, AI summaries and search, and will run a pilot for about three months.

Lee Dong-cheol tapped as next Credit Finance Association chief candidate
Lee Dong-cheol (이동철), former vice chairman of KB Financial Group, has been tapped as the next head of the Credit Finance Association. The association\'s chief executive candidate recommendation committee held its second meeting on Wednesday and recommended Lee as the sole candidate. He is expected to be formally appointed as the 14th chairman at an extraordinary general meeting on June 16. The term is three years.

Financial leaders say domestic and external uncertainty persists, finance role more important than ever
South Korean financial industry leaders met in Seoul on Jan. 5 for a New Year gathering and pledged to press ahead despite ongoing domestic and external uncertainty. Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yun-cheol stressed finance’s role and outlined plans to start supplying an annual 30 trillion won National Growth Fund and expand tax incentives for venture and innovation capital. Financial regulators urged productive, inclusive and trusted finance, stronger consumer protection and careful monetary policy management.
