Shinhan Investment Securities invests in Canton Network operator Digital Asset

Shinhan Investment Securities has invested in Digital Asset, the operator of the institutional blockchain Canton Network, to expand cooperation in digital assets and tokenisation. The firm said it participated as an investor together with Shinhan Venture Investment. The investment was made by joining a $355 million funding round led by a16z Crypto. Digital Asset, founded in 2014, operates Canton Network, a public layer-1 blockchain designed for financial institutions.

Digital Asset raises additional $10 million from Shinhan Financial, SC Ventures

Digital Asset, developer of the Canton blockchain, has raised an additional $10 million from South Korea’s Shinhan Financial Group and Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures. TheBlock reported the investment increased the company’s ongoing funding round to $365 million from $355 million, at the same $2 billion valuation as the previous round. Digital Asset last month announced a $355 million fundraising led by a16z crypto with participation from major institutions.

U.S. Senate CLARITY bill progress lifts Coinbase, Circle more than bitcoin

As discussion of the U.S. Senate’s CLARITY bill advances, markets have reacted more strongly in assets expected to benefit from clearer regulation, including Coinbase, Circle, Ethereum and Solana, than in bitcoin. A revised draft includes provisions on stablecoin rewards, SEC fundraising exemptions, DeFi classification, AML duties, allocation of regulatory authority and tokenisation. Analysts say bitcoin already has much of the institutional framework, while exchanges and stablecoins could be direct beneficiaries.
