GM puts recycled battery materials into Cadillac and Silverado EVs
General Motors has used key minerals recovered from end-of-life electric vehicle batteries in new batteries for EVs that will be delivered to customers, moving beyond research and testing into its new-vehicle supply chain. GM ran a closed-loop recycling pilot with partners including Cirba Solutions, dismantling 80 used GM EV batteries and refining recovered black mass. The recycled cathode material was used in models including the Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Silverado EV.
