AMAT to present energy-efficient AI chip technology at Semicon Korea 2026
Applied Materials (AMAT) Korea said on Wednesday it will participate in Semicon Korea 2026, held at COEX in Seoul from Feb. 11 to 13. The company will present energy-efficient computing technology through a technology symposium, forums and seminars, and showcase materials engineering innovations and advanced packaging solutions. Executives and directors will speak on epitaxy, plasma etching, CMP, cybersecurity cooperation and AI technology outlook. It will also join a mentoring seminar.

Samsung selects 17 master craftsmen, largest ever
Samsung on Saturday selected 17 experts in seven core technology fields as its 2026 master craftsmen, the largest number since the programme was launched in 2019. The group includes 12 from Samsung Electronics and five from other affiliates, bringing the total selected so far to 86. The programme recognises employees with more than 20 years of experience and provides personnel benefits including incentives, allowances and priority selection for a post-retirement work track.

SKC withdraws plan to enter secondary battery cathode materials business
SKC has cancelled its plan to enter the secondary battery cathode materials business and revised its mid- to long-term growth strategy first disclosed in September 2021. It cited a prolonged electric vehicle demand slowdown that has led to reduced investment and production across the battery industry and intensified competition. SKC said it adjusted its investment scale after reviewing long-term profitability. It will pursue an anode materials business through an equity investment in UK anode materials firm Nexeon.
