ETRI to map out next 50 years with AI and DX, focus on national strategic technologies
South Korea\'s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) will unveil a new AI-centred research and development vision and a national AI innovation strategy as it marks its 50th anniversary. ETRI said it will hold ETRI Conference 2026 on Sept. 1 in Seoul to review 50 years of ICT achievements and present R&D directions for an era of AI transformation. It also plans to concentrate on five priority fields including AI and physical AI.

SKT steps up push to build AI highway as CDMA turns 30
SK Telecom is stepping up efforts to spread new communications technology beyond the 30th anniversary of CDMA commercialisation. It is accelerating construction of an \"AI highway\" while planning to complete the introduction of 5G standalone mode this year. The CDMA rollout helped spur South Korea\'s mobile market, with subscribers topping 10,000,000 in 1998 and the ICT industry\'s value-added share of GDP rising to 13.1 percent in 2025.

Ryu Je-myeong attends ETRI 50th anniversary ceremony
Ryu Je-myeong (류제명), second vice minister at South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT, attended ceremonies at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute\'s Daejeon headquarters on Tuesday to mark the institute\'s 50th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the launch of the TDX electronic switching system. He reviewed ETRI\'s achievements and reaffirmed resolve for the next 50 years. He said the government would expand R&D investment and strengthen cooperation.
