Hugging Face CEO calls for mandatory disclosure of AI hacks after OpenAI incident
Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue called for mandatory disclosure of hacking incidents involving AI companies after an OpenAI intrusion incident. He said a system that transparently reveals incidents is more important than measures that block the release of powerful AI models. Delangue said similar problems can occur with unreleased models and argued that limiting launches is not a solution. He also said the United States lacks a federal AI incident reporting law.

Winners of 53rd Korea Broadcasting Awards announced
The Korea Broadcasters Association said on Wednesday it selected 30 winners in the programme category and 15 recipients of individual awards for the 53rd Korea Broadcasting Awards. The association reviewed 239 programmes aired over the past year and 60 broadcasters. Some individual award recipients were also named. Winners in several acting, entertainment and singer categories will be confirmed by viewer voting on Aug. 5. The grand prize will be announced at a Sept. 3 ceremony in Seoul.

Why offline bookstores are reviving in an era of less reading
Americans are reading less, but bookstores in the United States are reviving, Axios reported. Barnes & Noble and independent stores, once threatened by Amazon’s rise and Borders’ collapse, are opening new outlets and growing sales. Barnes & Noble CEO James Daunt says a turnaround is underway, while the American Booksellers Association cites a 70 percent rise in bookstores from 2021 to 2025. The sector faces pressure from AI summaries and social media, but store operators say trends are shifting.
