AI code translation startup Code Metal raises $125 million

Code Metal, which develops an AI-based code translation platform, has raised $125 million, SiliconANGLE reported on Feb. 20 local time. The round was led by Salesforce Ventures and included Accel, B Capital, Smithpoint Capital, J2 Ventures, Shield Capital and RTX. Code Metal’s valuation increased to $1.25 billion. The platform translates between programming languages and uses mathematical verification techniques to reduce errors.

India\'s Sarvam unveils proprietary LLM, targets feature phones, cars, smart glasses

India\'s AI company Sarvam unveiled AI models targeting Nokia feature phones, cars and smart glasses, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 18. At the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, it said it is working with Bosch on an automotive AI solution and with Qualcomm on chipset optimisation. It introduced a lightweight edge AI model that can run offline on existing processors and said it will launch AI smart glasses, Sarvam Kaze, in May.

Waymo unveils World Model, can it beat Tesla\'s FSD

Waymo unveiled its AI-based autonomous driving simulation technology, the Waymo World Model, using Google DeepMind\'s Genie 3 to build ultra-realistic virtual environments. Waymo said it can generate rare scenarios and create high-precision 3D environments to improve safety, while criticising Tesla\'s camera-centred approach. Tesla is moving faster on FSD, starting an AI training centre in China and shifting FSD to a subscription model. It also confirmed final specifications for the Semi electric truck.
