NXP Semiconductors said on Jan. 7 it unveiled its S32N7 ultra-integrated processor series at CES 2026.

The processor digitises core vehicle functions including the powertrain, driving control, body, gateway and safety domains. It is built on a 5-nanometre process. It integrates software and data into a single centralised hub, removing dozens of hardware modules. This cuts total cost of ownership by up to 20 percent.

It also supports AI-based functions. Through intelligent centralisation, it supports areas such as personalised driving, predictive maintenance and virtual sensors. Its high-performance data backbone provides a path to upgrade to the latest AI silicon without redesigning the vehicle. With access to core vehicle data and high computing performance, it serves as a central AI control point for next-generation mobility.

Bosch first applied the S32N7 to its vehicle integration platform. NXP and Bosch jointly developed reference designs, a safety framework, hardware integration and an expert support programme. The series' top model, the S32N79, is now being sampled to customers.

Mathias Breunig, senior vice president for Bosch Mobility Computing Empowerment, said Bosch's vehicle integration platform is the core of a new E/E architecture that realises a true software-defined vehicle (SDV). By preparing Bosch ECU samples with the first NXP S32N7 silicon, it provides customers with a significant early advantage for development, ensuring rapid implementation and strong performance of next-generation in-vehicle computers, he said.

Robert Morand, vice president of NXP's automotive processors business, said the new S32N7 processor series redefines the concept of mobility by delivering innovation across core vehicle functions beyond infotainment and autonomous driving. It offers OEMs simplification and visible cost savings, and gives drivers an intuitive experience in which the vehicle anticipates every need, he said.
