School smartphone bans show little impact on mental health, study finds
A study found middle school smartphone bans do not clearly improve students\' quality of life or mental health. Researchers analysed 815 students aged 12 to 15 at 20 England middle schools, comparing schools that banned phones for entertainment with those allowing limited use. Estimated QALYs were slightly higher and MWALYs slightly lower at restrictive schools, but differences were near zero and uncertain. Costs may be modestly lower under restrictions, though estimates were also uncertain.
