[Digital Today reporter Hojeong Lee (이호정)] KakaoGames has unveiled a 2026 development roadmap for its new game, God Save Birmingham.

On Jan. 27, KakaoGames announced the future development direction through a developer note on its official Steam page. The roadmap focuses on expanding content and improving the combat system based on feedback from last year's pre-alpha test.

The most notable change is an expanded weapon system. Along with a pitchfork and an axe, new blunt weapons have been added. A hammer that was previously used to break crates and deer leg meat that served as background decoration can also be used as weapons, widening combat options. All weapons and objects have durability, requiring strategic management.

The base-building system has also been made more concrete. Rather than building new buildings, development is under way in the form of reinforcing existing structures or installing barricades. The team is currently implementing zombie behavior patterns that respond to barricades or locked doors.

Co-op play between users has been set as a mid- to long-term core task. At this stage, the plan is to focus on stably building the game's world and a single-player-based survival experience.

Combat accuracy has also been improved. The team reduced the gap between user control intent and character actions, and increased accuracy between aim points and hit detection to strengthen the feel of impact.

God Save Birmingham, being developed by KakaoGames subsidiary Ocean Drive Studio, is a zombie survival game set in medieval Birmingham. The development team plans to roll out new elements, including added weapons and the barricade system, step by step in the next public test.
