Shift Up acquires 100 percent stake in Japan game developer Unbound
Shift Up said on Tuesday it has completed the acquisition of all shares in Japanese game developer Unbound Inc. Unbound is a PC and console game studio involving developers led by CEO Shinji Mikami, who has worked on titles including the Biohazard series, Devil May Cry, the Psycho Break series and Okami. Shift Up said the deal internalises development staff and expands its PC and console pipeline.

Pearl Abyss\' new game Crimson Desert has climbed to fifth place on Steam\'s global most popular games chart 10 days before its official release, Steam data showed on Monday. The chart is calculated based on sales and player activity trends on the platform. By country, the game ranked third in South Korea, fourth in Germany, fifth in the United States, seventh in Russia and ninth in Japan and China.

JoyCity is moving onto a track for improving results, helped by the global performance of \'Biohazard Survival Unit\' launched in November. The company posted improved fourth-quarter results, with revenue and operating profit up sharply from a year earlier. It expects further gains from official releases in South Korea and Taiwan and from two new titles planned for the first half, including \'Freestyle Football 2\' and the MMORPG \'Project Imjin\'.
