AI email security tools cannot distinguish hidden text
Cybersecurity company Barracuda said attackers are using a technique called text salting to confuse AI-based email filters. It said it has detected more than 1 million phishing attacks since April that impersonate shopping and delivery services using the method. Barracuda said attackers often hide the inserted words from human readers using CSS cropping, text manipulation or zero-font techniques, and that AI systems still lag behind traditional gateways in adapting.

Moves by the security industry are accelerating to offer commercial services that use large language models to help public and private organisations detect software vulnerabilities. IBM and OpenAI unveiled an enterprise AI security service, while SoftBank Group launched a product based on OpenAI models. OpenAI updated GPT-5.5-Cyber and expanded partner programmes. Intelligence agencies warned of destructive AI cyber attacks. Companies worldwide also announced new tools, acquisitions, funding and partnerships, including PQC standardisation efforts in South Korea.

Barracuda Networks launches AI-powered email security product to block malicious emails in real time
Barracuda Networks has launched an integrated email security feature that uses AI to automatically detect and remove email threats, Security Boulevard reported on Tuesday. The feature recalls malicious emails in real time from Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace inboxes and correlates threat signals across environments to identify, investigate and remove risks. A Barracuda executive said it enables security teams to respond at machine speed as attackers use AI for more sophisticated assaults.
