Wars around the world; gold and stocks fall, bitcoin and ethereum hold up

Bitcoin and ethereum posted higher returns than gold, silver and major stock indexes in March as tensions between the United States and Iran escalated, according to Binance Research cited by Cryptopolitan. Bitcoin rose about 1 percent and ether about 6 percent after the Middle East conflict began, while the S&P 500 and SOXX fell. The report cited 24-hour trading and institutional demand, and said total crypto market value rose to $2.39 trillion.

Cros pushes Mainnet 2.0 upgrade, shifts to validator participation model

Cros said on Monday it is pursuing a “Mainnet 2.0 (Breakpoint)” upgrade that will overhaul both its mainnet operating model and token distribution structure. It plans to shift network operations to a validator-centred PoSA model and link token rewards to actual participation rather than simple holdings. The foundation also plans a zero-minting approach to rewards within existing supply, a gas-fee burn mechanism, a community vote starting April 15 and a June 1 launch.

Changpeng Zhao-backed YZi Labs makes additional investment in prediction market startup Predict.fun

Predict.fun, Binance\'s in-app prediction market partner, has received additional investment from YZi Labs, a venture investor backed by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. The Block reported Susquehanna Crypto also took part in the round. YZi Labs said on X it made a strategic follow-on investment and described Predict.fun as a crypto-native prediction market platform. Zhao has said prediction markets are a key destination for crypto capital and expects the FIFA World Cup to boost activity.
