Phoenix data centres could raise temperatures by up to 4 degrees, study finds
Data centres around Phoenix, Arizona, could lift nearby temperatures by as much as 4 degrees, according to research. Arizona State University researchers studied 4 sites and compared upwind and downwind temperatures, from a 36-megawatt data centre in Mesa to a 169-megawatt campus in Chandler. They found heat plumes moved with the wind, lifting downwind temperatures by 1.3 to 1.6 degrees on average.
