Algorand Foundation unveils post-quantum migration roadmap, targets end-2027
Algorand plans to introduce quantum-resistant cryptography across its blockchain by the end of 2027. The Algorand Foundation unveiled a migration roadmap covering user accounts, wallets, institutional custody systems and core network infrastructure. It plans Falcon-based post-quantum accounts and hybrid accounts combining existing cryptography with quantum-resistant signatures, alongside changes to multisignature wallets and validator-related randomness. Chief Technology Officer Bruno Martins said the first milestone begins in 2026, with broad deployment targeted by end-2027.

U.S. SEC officially recognises blockchain as financial infrastructure innovation technology
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has officially recognised blockchain and digital assets as core technologies for modernising the U.S. financial system and included them as an independent task in its next five-year strategy. In a 2026-2030 strategic draft, it listed digital assets and blockchain as a key policy area and pledged to build a reasonable, consistent, principles-based regulatory framework. It is also coordinating with the CFTC on overlapping rules and conflicts.

From Crypto.com to Algorand, crypto firms cut jobs citing AI
Crypto.com will cut 12 percent of its workforce, or about 180 jobs, as it pushes AI integration, The Block reported. CEO Kris Marszalek said on X that companies that do not adopt AI will be left behind. The company has made three large rounds of layoffs since 2022. Gemini announced 200 job cuts. Block cut 40 percent, while Messari also reduced staff. The Algorand Foundation announced a 25 percent cut.
