Australia removes 45 crypto and remittance firms, tightens anti-money laundering oversight

Australia’s transaction reporting and analysis centre AUSTRAC has tightened oversight of high-risk payment and cryptocurrency sectors, cancelling or suspending registrations or refusing renewals for 45 remittance firms and virtual asset service providers over the past year. It removed operators lacking capacity, inactive for long periods or insolvent, and took action over missing change notifications and registration gaps. AUSTRAC also suspended Cryptolink’s registration for three months covering 96 ATMs and opened a separate probe into Western Union.

Strive buys bitcoin for 9 straight trading days, funding structure put to test

Asset manager Strive has bought bitcoin for nine straight trading days using funds raised by issuing SATA preferred shares. It most recently bought 104 BTC on Sept. 1, Cryptopolitan reported. The buying comes as corporate bitcoin purchases have generally slowed. Strive said SATA pays dividends every business day with an annual dividend rate of 13.00 percent. Analysts warned the cycle depends on market confidence, while the company reported a second-quarter GAAP net loss of $257.6 million.

Younglimwon Softlab and Shinhan Bank to offer discounted ERP fees for public-interest foundations

Younglimwon Softlab said on Sept. 1 it will work with Shinhan Bank to discount monthly fees for its SystemEver Nonprofit cloud ERP for new customers to support digital transformation and improve accounting efficiency at public-interest foundations. Eligible foundations must newly subscribe to the ERP, open or convert to a Shinhan dedicated account and join Shinhan’s Bank In platform. Discounts of 100,000 won per month for six months will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
