Korea to seek proposals for unlicensed spectrum pilot projects to find promising technologies and services
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Tuesday it will accept applications through March 12 for a pilot programme to verify new technologies and services based on unlicensed spectrum in real-world environments. The ministry said unlicensed spectrum can be used without special permits if technical standards are met, enabling applications across areas such as smart factories, smart cities and autonomous driving. It plans to select three projects and provide 906 million won in total support.
