Stanford AI Index to correct South Korea\'s notable model count to 8
South Korea’s tally of notable AI models released in 2025 in Stanford University’s AI Index 2026 report will be corrected to 8 from 5, the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Wednesday. The ministry said Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute omitted some models and would make the correction after the ministry requested additional verification. The revised list includes models from Upstage, LG AI Research, NC AI, SK Telecom and Naver Cloud.

LG AI Research to work with Nvidia to link EXAONE and Nemotron ecosystems
LG AI Research and Nvidia executives met on April 21 at LG AI Research headquarters in Magok, Seoul, and agreed to strengthen a technology alliance to expand the K-EXAONE ecosystem. The companies plan to broaden cooperation by combining LG\'s EXAONE model with Nvidia\'s Nemotron open ecosystem to jointly develop specialised models. They have continued technical collaboration from EXAONE 3.0 through K-EXAONE and multimodal EXAONE 4.5.

South Korea ranks third globally for notable AI models in Stanford AI Index 2026
South Korea ranked third in the number of notable artificial intelligence models released last year, behind the United States and China, the Ministry of Science and ICT said on April 14, citing Stanford University’s Human-Centered AI Institute. The report also put South Korea first globally in AI patents per 100,000 people and first in the increase in AI adoption rankings. It ranked fourth for industrial robot installations.
