Naver Cloud to expand Naver Works AI features with search and agents

Naver Cloud said it will hold a public-sector AI transformation strategy seminar on Aug. 13 in Seoul and unveil three new Naver Works features. The additions include Naver AI Search within government administrative networks, the Page document collaboration and knowledge management service, and the EASY solution for building AI agents. Naver AI Search will be provided this month, while EASY is targeted for official launch in the first half of next year.

Google app overtakes Naver in South Korea MAU for first time amid spread of AI search

The Google application has overtaken the Naver app in monthly active users (MAU) in South Korea for the first time, data showed. IGAWorks\' Mobile Index said Google posted 47,022,854 MAU last month, topping the productivity app category and beating Naver by 177,837 users. The reversal is the first since Mobile Index began compiling related statistics in March 2021. The rise comes as use of generative AI services grows, though separate data linking it directly to Google’s Gemini were not confirmed.

Naver steps up AI expansion from infrastructure to offline data

Naver is expanding AI infrastructure and consumer services, including an AI factory being developed with Nvidia and broader use of action-oriented AI across search, shopping, Place and payments. It plans to connect offline data through Npay Connect. Naver reported second-quarter revenue of 3.39 trillion won, up 16.2 percent, and operating profit of 520.3 billion won, down 0.2 percent, citing higher costs including AI infrastructure and Npay Connect terminals.
