Jensen Huang congratulates OpenAI\'s Astra, says AGI has arrived, next 400,000 GPUs

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (젠슨 황) congratulated OpenAI on the launch of its new AI model Astra, saying artificial general intelligence has arrived. He posted on X that Astra was trained on Nvidia chips and wrote that the next step would be 400,000 GPUs coming online. OpenAI unveiled Astra on Sept. 4 and began providing it to some customers. OpenAI executives differed over how to use the term AGI.

OpenAI declares start of AGI era with launch of GPT-6 Astra

OpenAI unveiled a new AI model, GPT-6 Astra, and said the era of artificial general intelligence (AGI) has begun. The company described Astra as a major research milestone that significantly advances professional task performance and expands what work can be delegated to AI. OpenAI also said it strengthened safeguards ahead of release after judging Astra’s cybersecurity capability reached a “critical” level by its standards.

ETRI aims to develop \'director-level AI scientist\' by 2035, unveils 50th anniversary vision

South Korea\'s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute said it would challenge itself to develop a \"director-level AI scientist\" by 2035 that can autonomously carry out the full research cycle, from hypothesis setting to experiments, analysis and verification. It also unveiled an AI innovation strategy and plans to focus R&D capabilities on five areas including AI-native 6G and satellite communications, safe artificial general intelligence, immersive space media, physical AI, and public and industrial AI and digital transformation.
