U.S. 6G spectrum tilts toward 7 GHz band as top contender
The 7 gigahertz band has emerged as the leading candidate in the United States\' selection process for 6G spectrum. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is reviewing several bands and has opened a website showing progress by candidate. Government review is also sharpening around the 7 GHz range following a Trump memo. Industry groups and vendors have backed the band, though budget and administrative procedures remain hurdles.

ETRI to unveil core 6G source technologies at MWC26
South Korea\'s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) will introduce key research results at MWC 2026 in Barcelona on March 2. It will showcase six ICT technologies, including an AI-based 6G core network, AI-native 6G wireless transmission, next-generation low Earth orbit satellite communications, intelligent transparent RIS and AI-enabled base station technologies. ETRI said its team improved session processing efficiency by 40 percent versus existing technology.

Samsung Electronics hits 3 Gbps downlink speed in 7 GHz 6G test
Samsung Electronics said on Thursday it, KT and Keysight Technologies successfully verified an ultra-high-density multi-antenna technology in the 7 GHz band, a core frequency for 6G standards. The companies reached an industry-leading maximum downlink speed of 3 Gbps, about twice that of 5G, in tests using a prototype base station and a 6G test device in a simulated network environment.
