AMD said on Jan. 23 it will start selling its next-generation Ryzen 7 9850X3D desktop processor from Jan. 29. The launch price is $499, or about 720,000 won.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D succeeds the Ryzen 9800X3D. It raises the boost clock by 400 MHz to lift gaming performance. It delivers up to 27 percent higher average gaming performance than Intel's Core Ultra 9 285K. The chip has 8 cores and 16 threads and supports a boost clock of up to 5.6 GHz and a base clock of 4.7 GHz.
It applies second-generation 3D V-Cache technology to reduce reliance on high-clock memory. The company said the difference in frames per second between DDR5-4800 and DDR5-6000 memory is less than 1 percent across an average of more than 30 games. It has 104 MB of cache and a 120-watt TDP. AMD plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the gaming processor market with the product.
