Xiaomi Poco M8 5G launches in South Korea with 5,520 mAh battery

Xiaomi Korea said it will release the Poco M8 5G in South Korea on Jan. 26. The handset weighs 178 grams and has a 5,520 mAh battery in a 7.35 mm body, with IP66 water and dust resistance. It uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and supports AI features, 45W fast charging and RAM expansion up to 16GB. The phone has a 6.77-inch Flow AMOLED display, dual speakers, a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 20-megapixel front camera. A first-purchase gift runs from Jan. 26 to Feb. 8.

Wemade Max says 'Midnight Walkers' surpasses 300,000 Steam wishlists

Wemade Max said on Sunday that 'Midnight Walkers', a new PvPvE extraction title being developed by OneWayTicketStudio, has surpassed 300,000 wishlists on Steam. Ahead of Steam Early Access on Jan. 29, the game has showcased demos through global play tests and at events including Gamescom and Steam Next Fest. The company cited its zombie apocalypse setting and ongoing communication through Discord as key drivers of anticipation. The game will launch globally at 11 a.m. KST on Jan. 29.

KOCCA sets record 149.9 billion won 2026 R&D budget

South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency will spend a record 149.9 billion won on R&D in 2026, up 45.4 billion won from a year earlier. New R&D totals 69.2 billion won. The programme will focus on the K-Culture AI Oxygen Supply Project and set four priority directions, including industrial AX and sovereign AI public AX talent training. A first call covers 52 new projects worth about 58.1 billion won.
