Enterprise software industry counters AI threat claims with bold AI agent strategy

Namyang Dairy pushes Backmidang expansion after ending five-year loss streak

Namyang Dairy, which escaped five years of losses last year, is stepping up expansion of its cafe franchise Backmidang. Backmidang was established as a separate company in 2024 and has grown to account for about 30 percent of Namyang Dairy’s operating profit. The company opened a new Hapjeong store last month and has focused on prime downtown Seoul locations. It plans further openings, including outside the Seoul metropolitan area, and new regional menu items.

Stripe CEO Patrick Collison said software in the AI era should be made on demand rather than mass-produced, likening it to pizza prepared to order. Speaking on the TBPN podcast, he said software should not be monetised infinitely based on fixed costs but built at the time it is used. Business Insider said the remarks reflect tech industry tensions over AI’s impact on existing software models.
