[DigitalToday reporter Chi-kyu Hwang] Prediction market platform Kalshi has asked Netflix to delete the trailer for the documentary "Instadocs: The Prediction Games". TechCrunch reported on July 25 that Kalshi sent Netflix a cease-and-desist letter, claiming the trailer contains doctored documents and false or misleading statements and defames it.

At issue is a $5,000 betting screen shown in the trailer. The trailer shows a World Cup final viewing party in Las Vegas and includes a scene in which attendees say they made millions of dollars, perhaps eight figures, on prediction markets. One attendee said they like betting on Kalshi, and another showed a betting screen on a mobile phone.

Kalshi is currently barred from operating in Nevada under a court order. Kalshi claimed the mobile phone screen was a screenshot of a bet placed on May 16, 2025, before the Nevada ban, but that the trailer made it appear as if it involved trading sports event contracts in Nevada on July 19, 2026.

Kalshi said it recently spoke with a Netflix employee, who agreed not to include the image in the full programme to be released on Sunday, July 26. It said the scene was not removed from the trailer circulating on the Netflix app's home screen.

Netflix did not deny that the screenshot was a 2025 betting scene. It said the documentary footage was not manipulated.
