Woori Bank is moving to expand its sales capacity in the second half. It plans to overhaul its sales territories and marketing system using public data and customer information, and introduce artificial intelligence (AI) agents to raise productivity in customer response and task processing.

Woori Bank said on July 26 it held its "2026 second-half management strategy meeting" on July 24 at its headquarters in Hoehyeon-dong, Seoul.

The meeting shared second-half sales strategies and execution plans, focusing on data-driven sales, collaboration among business groups and internal controls.

Woori Bank said it laid the groundwork for expanding sales in the second half through a broader customer base, an asset reshuffle centered on sound assets and improved capital ratios in the first half.

On the customer front, it expanded partnerships with external platforms such as Samsung Wallet Money and N Pay and launched the ticketing platform To the Moon. Monthly active users (MAU) of Woori WON Banking topped 9 million. It also set up a corporate succession support center to help corporate clients.

It strengthened its capital position by rebalancing assets toward sound assets. On that basis, won-denominated loans rose 780 billion won in the first half of this year.

Global credit rating agency Fitch upgraded Woori Bank's viability rating (VR) by one notch to A from A- last July.

Jin-wan Jeong (정진완), CEO of Woori Bank, said, "We must connect our customer base to actual profit." He said the bank should focus its capabilities on genuine sales that develop into lasting relationships, rather than sales that only expand scale.

DATA AND AI-DRIVEN SHIFT IN SALES SYSTEM

Woori Bank presented building a data-driven sales system, expanding synergies across the bank and strengthening internal controls as its key strategies for the second half.

It plans to redesign sales territories by analyzing public data, commercial district information and customer status based on administrative districts. It will also adjust KPI targets to match market conditions by region.

Taking into account that 88.4 percent of individual customers transact only through non-face-to-face channels, it will integrate dispersed data and use each customer's transaction flows and product and channel usage for consultations and marketing.

It will also introduce AI agents to support the use of data in sales operations. It plans to speed up customer response and task processing and, in preparation for eased network separation regulations, to refine work environments and related systems needed for AI use.

It will expand collaboration among business groups. It will link corporate finance, wealth management, retirement pensions and digital platforms around customers, and strengthen cross-selling using Samsung Wallet Money, Won Biz Plaza, Woori WON FX and Woori SAFE Settlement. It also plans to revamp its evaluation system so joint sales and cross-selling results can be reflected.

In line with expanded use of data and AI, it will review standards for using customer information and work procedures. It will also strengthen a prevention-focused internal control system that checks risk factors in advance across the entire information management process, including external vendors.

Jeong said, "Based on an owner's mindset, we must raise productivity and performance and link them to enhancing corporate value." He said, "Let us continue the changes so far in our own way, 'WON the way,' and deliver results in the second half and narrow the gap with rival banks."
