Ku Hyuk-chae attends Chungcheong 2026 Korea Science Festival
Ku Hyuk-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, attended the Chungcheong regional event of the 30th Korea Science Festival in Daejeon on April 17. The opening ceremony, held jointly with the Daejeon Science Festival, drew about 300 participants including central and local government, lawmakers, and industry, academia and research officials. Ku said the government plans to expand support for regional science culture from this year and will provide financial and institutional backing.

Hanwha Investment Securities unveils digital asset platform blueprint, targets launch in Q1 2027
Hanwha Investment Securities unveiled a blueprint to develop its digital asset business into a next-generation investment platform. Executive director Son Jong-min said the firm will build a Digital Asset Platform to tokenise and trade assets, starting with private market assets. It plans to begin with high-net-worth and family office clients, then expand to the broader public. The company aims to launch the platform in the first quarter of 2027, initially in overseas markets where regulations allow.

Kim Jong-cheol says private broadcasters are backbone of democracy, vows more production support
Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), chairman of the Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission, said on April 17 that private broadcasters have recorded local lives and served as a backbone protecting democratic values. Speaking at the 2026 Korea Private Broadcasting Day ceremony in Ulsan, he also met executives from nine private broadcasters including SBS, KNN, TBC and TBJ to discuss regulatory and policy issues for local broadcasting and to hear industry requests and difficulties.
