Operating profit at KOSPI-listed firms rises 25 percent in 2025
Operating profit at firms listed on South Korea's main bourse rose 25.39 percent in 2025 from a year earlier, data showed on Wednesday. Sales of 626 December-year-end KOSPI-listed companies increased 6.08 percent to 3,082.76 trillion won on a consolidated basis, while net profit climbed 33.57 percent to 189.39 trillion won. Profit margins improved, though the number of loss-making firms rose.

Woori Financial marks 25th anniversary; chairman vows to be 'first finance' in people's hearts
Woori Financial Group said on Wednesday it held events marking its 25th anniversary at its head office history museum, "Woori 1899", and at a Goodwill store under the theme "Roots of 1899, 127 years together". The group, launched in 2001 and based on Woori Bank, traces its origins to Daehan Cheonil Bank founded in 1899. About 230 people attended, including Chairman Lim Jong-ryong and singer IU.
