[Digital Today reporter Seulgi Son] LG CNS said on Wednesday it will supply four-legged security robots to Tower Palace in Seoul’s Gangnam district. LG CNS signed a business agreement with residential facility management firm Tower PMC on Aug. 19 at its headquarters at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, to build a security robot solution service.
The partners will conduct technical verification over the next 2 months to introduce the security robots in the Tower Palace complex and plan to begin actual operations within the fourth quarter.
LG CNS plans to train the four-legged robots on data covering on-site spaces, driving routes and abnormal situations such as falls and fires. The robots will autonomously patrol shared areas and underground parking lots. If they spot suspicious people or detect abnormal situations such as high heat at electric vehicles and charging facilities, they will send an alert to the control room.
Managers can check the on-site situation in real time through the robots’ two-way voice communication function.
LG CNS will apply its robotics transformation (RX) platform, Physicalworks, for on-site data training and operations. It will use the training platform Physicalworks Forge and the integrated control platform Physicalworks Baton to manage robot training and task performance.
LG CNS said using Physicalworks can cut the time required to deploy robots on site from several months to 1 to 2 months.
It also plans to build an autonomous cooperation system between different types of robots, such as having the security robot request work from a cleaning robot when it finds trash.
Kang Min-soo (강민수), CEO of Tower PMC, said, "We will introduce AI-based security robots with LG CNS to provide a safer and more differentiated residential service."
Myoung Chang-kook (명창국), an executive director in charge of LG CNS' smart logistics center and robot business, said, "This cooperation is a case in which physical AI technology creates customer value in an actual residential environment." He said, "Based on Physicalworks, we will expand AI robot services in which various robots perform real tasks and cooperate with one another."
