Manufacturing innovation in AI era depends on intelligent production sites

Industry moves to use AI across manufacturing processes from design to production are accelerating, with some saying AI is changing the DNA of manufacturing. Dassault Systemes executives say a platform-centric structure is emerging in which data is shared in real time across departments and systems and used directly for decision-making. They say AI can help address labor shortages, supply chain issues and imbalances between faster design and slower production.

PIPC appoints 8 new members to personal information dispute mediation committee

South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission said on Feb. 5 it appointed eight new members to the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee. The new members, whose terms run from Feb. 5, 2026 to Feb. 4, 2028, include experts in areas such as artificial intelligence, data and victim relief. The committee is formed under Article 40 of the Personal Information Protection Act for rights relief for damage caused by personal data infringements.

Shinhan Investment posts 488.5 billion won 2025 operating profit, up 73.3 percent

Shinhan Investment said on Feb. 5 its 2025 operating profit rose 73.3 percent from a year earlier to 488.5 billion won. Operating revenue increased 17.4 percent to 1.63 trillion won, and net profit climbed 113 percent to 381.6 billion won. The firm cited higher stock brokerage commissions, improved investment banking fees and better product management gains. Fourth-quarter profit turned positive but fell from the previous quarter.
