Hanwha Investment & Securities is accelerating its digital asset push after declaring in October last year it would become a specialist digital asset brokerage. It plans to expand investment and collaboration with digital asset firms while preparing for regulation by pursuing domestic token securities and overseas real-world asset (RWA) tokenisation. DA Platform team head Byung-chul Lee outlined building a platform linking product discovery, issuance and subscription, and wallet and custody, starting with issuance and underwriting.

South Korean banks are strengthening internal controls to prevent financial incidents, but loan fraud involving outsiders continues to surface. Detecting fraud is difficult when loans remain current and are managed as normal credit, or when parties disguise transactions as legitimate. Hana Bank disclosed a 2.42 billion won incident tied to suspected fraud, while recent disclosures by Korea Development Bank and Industrial Bank of Korea were reported to involve the same counterparty.
