KB Kookmin Bank nominates AI expert Professor Jung Yoon-kyung as outside director

KB Kookmin Bank nominated Jung Yoon-kyung (정윤경), a professor at Sungkyunkwan University, as a new outside director candidate to strengthen expertise in artificial intelligence and digital fields. The nomination follows the resignation of former outside director Moon Soo-bok. The bank said its outside director nomination committee selected Jung after multiple meetings and screening procedures. Jung is expected to be formally appointed after approval at an extraordinary shareholders meeting on July 23.

Government steps up blockchain-based deposit token payment infrastructure rollout

The Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT said they have launched a 2026 blockchain project to expand payment infrastructure based on deposit tokens. The project will be led by the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, with a consortium including 9 commercial banks, 8 payment service providers and 2 large demand-side firms. The 9.6 billion won project will link existing payment infrastructure with the Bank of Korea’s Project Hangang system.

Veeam expands beyond backup into data, AI trust platform

Veeam, a data backup company, is expanding its business beyond backup and cyber resilience into a "data and AI trust" platform, Techzine reported, citing CEO Anand Eswaran (아난드 에스와란). Veeam bought Securiti AI late last year for $1.725 billion and launched its DataAI Command Platform. Eswaran said agentic AI requires new products and structures. He said firms run 82 autonomous AI agents per employee, with 97% holding excessive access.
