Nongshim, Samyang, Ottogi to cut instant noodle prices; cooking oil prices also to fall

Instant noodle and cooking oil makers will cut prices on some products, the industry said. President Lee Jae-myung said he had been briefed that producers will lower shipment prices from next month by up to the double digits. Nongshim, Ottogi, Samyang Foods and Paldo plan to cut prices for noodles, while CJ CheilJedang, Daesang and others will reduce prices for cooking oils. Some snack makers are also considering price cuts.

Oil prices top $100 again in intraday trade after three days

International oil prices climbed back above $100 a barrel in intraday trading on March 12, despite an agreement by 32 members including the G7 to release 400 million barrels of strategic reserves. Industry views said a potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz could cause supply losses too large to offset. Iran widened maritime attacks in the Gulf, while Asian stock markets mostly fell on the oil surge.

NCSoft loses appeal in copyright suit against Kakao Games over ArcheAge War

NCSoft lost again on appeal in a copyright infringement lawsuit against Kakao Games over the mobile MMORPG ArcheAge War, which it said copied its game Lineage2M. The Seoul High Court rejected NCSoft's appeal on March 12. The court said it was difficult to view the plaintiff's game as a work with distinct creativity and individuality, and cited public-domain elements in claims of unfair competition.
