Smilegate Future Lab said on Tuesday it will run the "2026 Youth Game Career Exploration Programme" with the Gyeonggi Content Agency for elementary students in Gyeonggi Province.
The programme will run through November for about 200 fifth- and sixth-graders at 10 elementary schools in Gyeonggi Province. About 20 educators who completed Future Lab's creativity and digital education curriculum will visit each school to teach classes.
Students will experience the entire game development process, from planning to graphics, programming and sound, and make their own games. The programme is designed to help them better understand the game industry and explore related career paths.
The training uses "Ahaoho," a creative learning community application developed by Future Lab. Students will use game-related content provided in the app to create works and record and share their results. The programme also includes exchanging opinions with other participants.
At the end of the year, it will hold "Ahaoho Game Space Exploration Game Jam," an event to share the programme's outcomes. Participating students will develop ideas from the classes into game designs and share results by school.
The Youth Game Career Exploration Programme has been operated since 2023 to foster game talent in Gyeonggi Province and provide education on game culture.
Oh Sook-hyun (오숙현), head of Smilegate Future Lab, said, "We prepared this programme so children can take an interest in the game industry and envision related career paths." Oh said, "We will support efforts to narrow regional education gaps and help children build the ability to learn on their own through creative experiences."
