Yonsei University’s AI Innovation Institute AI Governance and Security Center and AI Humanity Center will host a special dialogue titled “Humans Playing with AI: A Conversation Between Lee Sedol and Yonsei University Professors” at 4 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Y-Valley in the Yonsei-Samsung Library. The event invites Lee Sedol (이세돌), a special-appointed professor at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).

The dialogue will focus on what uniquely human capabilities are in the AI era and what kind of relationship humans and AI will build going forward.

Panelists will include Lee; Hwa-soon Cho (조화순), a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Studies and head of the AI Governance and Security Center; Hyun-ju Song (송현주), a psychology professor and head of the AI Humanity Center; Byung-joo Lee (이병주), a professor in the Division of Advanced Computing; and Ki-sook Choi (최기숙), a professor in the Interdisciplinary Program in Korean Studies.

Experts from psychology, the humanities, political science and HCI will discuss human curiosity and creativity, narratives and philosophy unique to humans, new gaps created by AI, and the potential for collaboration between humans and AI.

The organisers said the AlphaGo match 10 years ago raised the question of whether AI could surpass humans and that it was now time to ask the next question. They said they aim to explore, through the dialogue, the possibility of humans who go beyond competing with AI to question, create and play together with AI.
