Korea Post under the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Wednesday it will issue 420,000 commemorative stamps for the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo on Sept. 4.

The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo is an international expo and the first in the world to focus on islands. Under the slogan “Islands, connecting the sea and the future,” it will run from Sept. 5 to Nov. 4 in the Jinmo district of Dolsan in Yeosu, the expo venue and the surrounding areas of Geumo Island and Gaedo in Yeosu, South Jeolla province.

The stamps feature elements symbolising Yeosu, including a bridge, a marine cable car, a lighthouse and camellia flowers, against a Yeosu landscape tinted by the sunset. The expo will share with the international community the value and importance of islands and discuss ways to ensure the sustainable development of islands and the sea.

Korea Post chief Park In-hwan (박인환) said, “Through the issuance of these commemorative stamps, we will widely promote our country’s beautiful islands and the charms of Yeosu.” He added, “I hope this will provide an opportunity to reflect once again on the precious value that islands possess.”

The stamps will be available at head post offices nationwide and at the internet post office.
