BitMine Immersion Technologies bought an additional 32,447 Ether worth $81 million last week.

Decrypto, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Sunday that the company’s total Ether holdings stood at 5,847,611 as of Aug. 23, valued at $15 billion.

The company said it currently holds about 4.8 percent of Ethereum’s total supply. With Ethereum’s supply at about 120.7 million, BitMine’s stated 5 percent target equals about 6.04 million. That leaves it needing about 187,000 more Ether at current levels.

BitMine’s Ethereum accumulation has continued since last summer. The company secured about 1 percent of Ethereum’s supply in August last year and topped 2 percent in September that year. Holdings passed 4.66 million in March 2026, rose to 5.2 million in May, and increased to 5.79 million by late July.

BitMine has staked 5,067,309 Ether, or 87 percent of its holdings, and projected annual staking income of $330 million. Even if its holding share exceeds 5 percent, it cannot control Ethereum transaction processing, upgrades or governance. The 5 percent level is a holding target set by BitMine itself.

The additional purchase came amid recent strength in Ether. Ether has risen 30.27 percent over the past seven days, outperforming bitcoin’s roughly 24 percent gain over the same period. Ether is trading at around $2,480 and has also edged up over the past 24 hours.

Market sentiment is also shifting. On prediction market Myriad, the implied probability that Ether reaches $3,000 before falling to $1,500 stands at 64 percent. Just a few days ago, a bearish outlook held a 74 percent edge, but the trend has since reversed.

BitMine Chairman Tom Lee (톰 리) drew attention to Ether’s weekly rise. In a statement, he said, "This increase is the biggest since May 2025, and the previous case before that was July 2021," and added, "In both cases, weekly gains of more than 30 percent became a signal of a bigger move in Ether."

He cited easing financial conditions, the White House’s pro-crypto stance and the U.S. Treasury’s purchases of long-term government bonds as reasons behind improved investor sentiment. He said these changes have lifted risk-asset appetite.

BitMine said in May it would adjust the pace of purchases to avoid reaching its target too quickly, but it continued to buy more at different times afterward. BMNR investors are exposed to risks from Ether price declines as well as custody incidents, financing costs and regulatory changes.

As BitMine nears its goal of securing 5 percent of Ethereum’s supply, attention is turning to the pace of any additional purchases and whether staking income will grow. Changes in Ether prices and in custody, funding and regulatory conditions are cited as key variables that will affect the company’s asset value and share price.
