San Francisco startup t54 Labs, which develops financial trust infrastructure for autonomous AI agents, has raised $5 million in seed funding, The Block reported on Feb. 25 (local time).

The funding was co-led by Anagram, PL Capital and Franklin Templeton. Ripple, Virtuals Ventures, Blockchain Coinvestors and ABCDE also participated.

Founded in January 2025, t54 Labs develops identity verification, validation and compliance tools for AI agents that trade independently on behalf of people and companies. An era has arrived in which agents initiate payments and execute transactions autonomously, but there is no standardised way to verify identity or assign responsibility when problems arise, the company said.

The t54 Labs platform consists of four functions. The first is identity verification, called Know Your Agent. The second is a real-time risk system that detects suspicious activity before funds move. The third is credit that provides AI agents with credit limits based on verified identity, risk scores and transaction history. The fourth integrates identity, risk controls and settlement into a single system to reduce the complexity companies face in operating autonomous agents. The platform operates on multiple blockchain networks including XRP Ledger, Solana and Base.

t54 Labs also developed x402-secure, an open-source trust layer for the x402 agent payment protocol developed by Coinbase. Chief Executive Chandler Fang (챈들러 팡) said, "Blockchain serves as a payments and accountability-tracking layer," adding, "AI agents need programmable financial infrastructure with audit trails, and blockchain is well suited to this."
