Toss Bank said on Wednesday it has joined the K-Pass project overseen by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and launched the Toss Bank K-Pass debit card.
K-Pass is a scheme that refunds a certain percentage of spending for people who use public transport at least 15 times a month. Refund methods differ by type, such as the basic plan and the "Everyone's Card", and the method with the larger refund amount applies.
Toss Bank will provide an additional 2,000 won cashback if monthly public transport spending is at least 40,000 won. There is no requirement for prior-month performance, and users only need to meet the transport spending threshold.
In March, to mark the launch, it will add 1,000 won for spending of at least 40,000 won, paying a total of 3,000 won. Government refunds and the additional cashback will be deposited into a Toss Bank account around the 25th of the following month.
K-Pass sign-up and card linking can be handled within the Toss app. Unlike the previous process, which required signing up and registering on a separate website or app after card issuance, it allows issuance, sign-up, and card registration and changes in one step. Users who use K-Pass cards from other companies can also switch registration in the app after getting the card.
Galaxy users can use it on their phone without a physical card. When adding a transport card in Samsung Pay, they can register through "Ezl".
The card can be used without an annual fee and maintains the same structure as existing Toss Bank debit cards, including Switch cashback (choose 1 of offline, online, anywhere, or donation) and overseas-use benefits. K-Pass benefits apply when the dedicated card is issued, and existing customers must reissue the card as that card.
