Blockchain.com has received a virtual asset service provider licence from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, allowing it to provide cryptocurrency custody services locally. Cointelegraph reported on Aug. 6 that the licence was granted on July 22.
With the licence, Blockchain.com can offer regulated cryptocurrency custody services in the Cayman Islands, as well as crypto-to-fiat and crypto-to-crypto exchange services. The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority granted Blockchain.com conditional approval in December 2025.
Blockchain.com has maintained a virtual asset service provider registration in the Cayman Islands since May 2022. The approval expands the scope of regulated services it can provide locally.
Blockchain.com co-chief executive Rain Casselman (레인 캐셀먼) said the licence follows a string of regulatory approvals the company has recently secured. He also cited obtaining a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) licence in Europe and registering with the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
