KT is rolling out a companywide work innovation system that applies AI across its operations.

KT said on July 24 it held an 'AID-X Demo Day' at its Pangyo office in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, with participation from its IT division and IT-focused affiliate KT DS.

AID-X, short for 'AI-Driven Everything', expands the existing AI-based development system AIDD. Its core is embedding AI across IT work, including planning, UI and UX design, quality assurance (QA) and operations, as well as software development.

KT is shifting to a collaboration system in which people define problems and AI supports the entire project process. At the event, it shared the AID-X application process and results, as well as trial-and-error experienced in the field.

The event introduced cases in which AI handled developers' repetitive analysis and development work and automated analysis and modelling and data linkage to improve productivity and quality. KT employees shared experience accumulated across design and development, UI and UX and operations, and moved to turn it into knowledge assets for use in future development.

In an exhibition area, KT unveiled AID-X-based development governance and core technologies, customer service application cases and next-generation AI transformation (AX) technologies.

A highlighted case was the development process for humanoid physical AI based on 'K RaaS'. At the event, a humanoid demonstrated understanding natural-language commands, recognising its surroundings and objects, then picking up an item and moving it to a desired location.

KT also presented a technology in which AI understands a robot's movement and surrounding environment and repeatedly verifies robot actions. It is an example of expanding the scope of AID-X application from IT platform software to physical AI by applying safety functions to reduce trial-and-error during development.

KT also unveiled an AI-based platform that tests services across various devices, applications and operating system environments. The technology enables AI to understand mobile screens and app functions like an actual user and automatically generate and run test scenarios.

KT said results from using the platform to verify multiple device environments simultaneously cut testing time by about 50 percent. Quality improved 20 percent and test coverage rose 80 percent.

The event also introduced a case in which an employee who does not handle professional coding or data analysis used natural-language-based AI to analyse shuttle bus operation data for the Pangyo office and optimise routes.

KT plans to share strong cases and trial-and-error verified in the field to establish AID-X as the organisation's standard way of working. It aims to spread AI as a collaboration tool used by all employees in real work, not a tool only for specific technical units or experts.

Ok Kyung-hwa (옥경화), executive vice president and CIO of KT's IT division, said, "AI is not a technology that replaces people, but a collaborative partner that expands people's capabilities." She added, "We will declare 'AID-X must' for all IT projects and continue innovating how we work based on AX across every stage of the work process."
