Physical Intelligence has denied a rumour that Anthropic will acquire the robotics startup. But the speculation has not faded after it was confirmed the two sides held acquisition talks this spring.

TechCrunch reported on Tuesday that the rumour spread quickly after Robert Scoble posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Physical Intelligence is one of the robotics companies drawing attention in Silicon Valley. It was also reported to have discussed raising an additional $1 billion this spring based on an $11 billion valuation. The company's pi-0.5 model is seen as a relatively widely used robot control model in robotics research.

Physical Intelligence denied being acquired by Anthropic, but it was not forceful. Chief executive Karol Hausman (카롤 하우스만) told employees on Slack that the report was not true and included a GIF from the U.S. TV series "The Office" showing a character shaking their head.
