Samsung Electronics is moving to expand its Middle East B2B cooling business, using demand from religious facilities in Saudi Arabia as a foothold. Samsung Electronics said on Saturday it will supply about 1,000 ceiling-type system air conditioners to around 100 Islamic places of worship, mosques, in eight major cities in Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh and Ramla.

The supplied product is the 360 Cassette, a ceiling-type system air conditioner that applies a circular design for the first time in the world. It adopts a round structure instead of the existing square format to deliver uniform, all-direction cooling across the space. Its patented booster fan technology reduces airflow loss from the blades and can send cool air broadly and far horizontally. Its ceiling-mounted structure also improves floor space use.

Because mosques have high ceilings and open interiors, all-direction cooling performance is essential. It applies a low-noise design to create a quiet environment suitable for prayer spaces. The outdoor unit is designed to provide stable cooling even when the outside air temperature exceeds 50 degrees Celsius, reflecting Saudi Arabia's high-temperature conditions. A dedicated panel design reflecting traditional Islamic patterns was applied to harmonise with the interior.

Samsung Electronics plans to expand supply cooperation for Saudi mosques after signing an MOU in June with local partner Ghoroos Charity, using this supply as a starting point. Its Middle East B2B business is also extending beyond mosques to transport and education facilities. Last year it supplied system air conditioners to public transport facilities in Riyadh, and delivered its building integrated solution b.IoT (Building Internet of Things) to a private school in Dubai, the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai (RGSGD), in the United Arab Emirates.

Lim Sung-taek (임성택), a vice president at Samsung Electronics' DA Business Division, said, "This supply is a case that proves the competitiveness of customised HVAC solutions that reflect the characteristics of prayer spaces and local culture." He added, "We will continue to expand our Middle East B2B HVAC business with a variety of HVAC solutions that reflect regional environments and customer demand."
