LG Uplus said on July 15 it has revamped its "Roaming Pass" to reduce cumbersome settings and sign-up procedures in the overseas roaming process.
With the revamp, customers can use roaming services from the moment they first connect to a network at a local airport, without separately setting their overseas arrival time. Previously, users had to enter the local arrival time during the sign-up process, which was inconvenient because they had to consider time differences and daylight saving time by country.
The company also simplified procedures for sharing roaming data among family members. Previously, each family member had to sign up for roaming and then separately set up data sharing.
After the revamp, if a family using a bundled plan applies to share roaming data, the primary subscriber can set up roaming sign-up and data sharing at the same time. Tablet PCs used through domestic data sharing can also be automatically pulled up and connected during the roaming sign-up process.
It also introduced an automatic application feature for customers who visit multiple countries or travel abroad frequently. If users select the automatic application option when signing up for the first time, the same roaming product will be automatically applied on subsequent departures without additional sign-up procedures.
The revamp was carried out by reflecting feedback submitted on LG Uplus' customer participation platform, "Simple. Lab". Customers cited the hassle of setting overseas arrival times and procedures for sharing data among family members, repeated sign-ups and the process of connecting multiple smart devices as key inconveniences.
Joon-young Jang (장준영), head of LG Uplus' marketing group and a managing director, said, "We improved the travel experience by reflecting customer voices." He added, "We will continue to create easier and more convenient communications services together with customers."
