SpaceXAI and Cursor will release their first jointly developed AI model as early as July 8 local time. The Information reported this on July 7, citing a memo sent to employees.
According to the memo, the two companies postponed a launch planned for early this week to increase efficiency. The new model is expected to process information faster and compete in some respects with Anthropic Opus 4.8 and OpenAI GPT-5.5.
SpaceX earlier agreed to acquire Cursor in a $60 billion deal. Elon Musk (일론 머스크), SpaceX CEO, said last month that SpaceX and Tesla employees are testing the jointly developed model. Michael Truuel (마이클 트루엘), Cursor CEO, said at a customer event that Cursor is developing an AI model trained from scratch at the xAI Colossus data centre and that it will compete directly with Anthropic and OpenAI models.
